What’s worth doing even if you fail? Those words made me catch my breath when I heard them come from Brene Brown on Katie Couric’s new talk show recently. I’ve heard and even tried to assimilate into my life the well-known quote, “what would you do if you knew you couldn’t fail?” It doesn’t energize me because, frankly, I know failure is a really strong possibility. And, I’m not a big fan of failure. So, it is fascinating how impactful to me this suggestion of doing something even if failure is a possibility, perhaps even, a probability. It really changes my perspective. Is it worth pursuing a new hobby even if I know it may turn out terribly? Will I pursue a passion even if I fall on my face? Will I be the first to share something intimate even if I end up getting hurt? Will I be my true self, even if I look foolish?
